The Story of the Bet Between Cesc Fabregas and Goalkeeper Willy Caballero Over a Range Rover During Chelsea Training in 2018

The Spanish midfielder had a habit: after training sessions, he would stay on the pitch to practise penalties and often make small bets with the goalkeepers to add a little extra excitement to the challenge.

Fàbregas was extremely confident in his abilities, as he rarely missed from the penalty spot, and goalkeepers found it difficult to save his shots.

But one day, he came up against Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero. 🇦🇷

In front of the entire squad, Fabregas told him:

“If you save my penalty, I’ll buy you a Range Rover!”

And what happened? Caballero saved the penalty!

The most confident player on the pitch had suddenly become, as Fàbregas himself described it, “the biggest idiot in the world.”

All the players started teasing him and demanding that he keep his promise.

But the Spaniard had come up with a brilliant… or rather, devilish solution!

He had never specified in the bet that the car had to be brand new. So, he went to a car scrapyard and found an old Range Rover, completely wrecked, with broken windows and in terrible condition.

The price? Just £950!

Fabregas bought it, and the following day, the vehicle was delivered to the car park at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham.

Caballero’s teammates covered his head with a towel and escorted him towards his “gift.”

When they finally unveiled the car in front of the entire squad, including Pedro and Marcos Alonso, everyone burst out laughing!
