Neymar Junior has surprised Barcelona fans by declaring that the best period of his football career came at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), rather than at the Catalan club, where he formed the famous MSN attacking trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The Brazilian made the revelation during a conversation with content creator Davoo Xeneize, discussing his career and the period he considers the peak of his individual performances.
“For me, it was at Paris Saint-Germain,” Neymar replied when asked when he had been at his best.
“I know people remember my time at Barcelona with MSN, but as a player, I reached my peak in Paris because I felt strong, I was fast and intelligent,” he said, according to the sports outlet SPORT.
Neymar spent four seasons at Barcelona, where he formed one of the most famous attacking trios in modern football alongside Messi and Suarez. In 2015, he was part of the team that won the Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Rey, completing a historic treble under Luis Enrique.
In 2017, the Brazilian moved to PSG for a world-record transfer fee, with the aim of embarking on a new chapter in his career. In Paris, he played a key role in the team’s attacking play, although he was unable to win the Champions League with the French club.
His comments reflect how Neymar assesses his individual development, despite the fact that many fans associate his most memorable years with Barcelona and the legendary MSN trio.
During the same conversation, Neymar also revealed that he does not usually watch football in his free time.
“Sitting on the sofa, turning on the television and watching a match… I just can’t do it,” he said, recalling how frustrated he used to get when his friends spent their weekends watching football matches.
Neymar currently plays for Santos, the Brazilian club where he began his professional career. He has also spoken about life after retirement, joking that he intends to spend his first year away from football doing as little as possible.
