Lamine Yamal has booked a private jet to travel to London, where the 70th Ballon d’Or awards ceremony will take place on Monday, organised by France Football in partnership with UEFA.
According to Cadena COPE, the Barcelona star will be accompanied by his parents, his partner, Inés García, family members, friends and members of his management team.
The 18-year-old is aiming to win the Best Young Player award for the third time, but this year he also hopes to triumph in the race for the main prize, awarded to the best footballer in the world.
At last year’s ceremony, Yamal organised a party in Paris but left before the celebrations ended after Ousmane Dembélé won the main award.
Barcelona are also expected to be represented by a large delegation this year, led by club president Joan Laporta. Among the candidates for the individual awards is Pau Cubarsí, along with several other players from the Catalan club.
In the women’s category, Alexia Putellas is considered one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or, while Vicky López is among the leading contenders for the Best Young Player award. Meanwhile, Joan Garcia and Cata Coll are hoping to win the awards for the best goalkeepers.
All eyes will be on Yamal as he looks to cap another significant year in his career by winning football’s most prestigious individual award.
