The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to extend its partnership with Luis de la Fuente until 2032.
The contract extension was approved by the RFEF Board of Directors during a meeting at the Football City in Las Rozas, under the leadership of federation president Rafael Louzan.
De la Fuente’s previous contract was valid until after the 2028 European Championship, while the new agreement will keep him in charge of the Spanish national team for the next six years. The renewal comes after a successful period for Spain under De la Fuente’s leadership.
The coach has guided the national team to triumphs in the UEFA Nations League in 2023, the European Championship in 2024, and the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
In the World Cup final, played on July 19, 2026, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the second World Cup title in the country’s history.
These successes have strengthened the confidence of Spanish football officials in De la Fuente’s sporting project, which will see him continue as Spain’s head coach until 2032.
