Lionel Messi will once again wear the Argentina shirt to play his farewell match with the national team.
The news was confirmed by the president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Tapia, who announced that Messi has been invited for a friendly match that will be played on October 6 in Argentina.
The match will serve as Messi’s final farewell to the Argentine fans, following an extraordinary career with the national team.
The Argentine star announced last month his decision to retire from international football.
“We have invited the best player in the world, our captain Lionel Andrés Messi, so that he can have the farewell he deserves on October 6, here in Argentina,” Tapia said on social media.
