The race for the Ballon d’Or appears more exciting and unpredictable than ever, with tensions running high – particularly between two stars from Barcelona and Real Madrid: Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé.
In this context, Yamal spoke on the Universo Valdano program on Movistar; the interview is expected to air next Friday. This time, the Barcelona star was perhaps clearer than ever about who, in his opinion, deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.
“Who would I give the Ballon d’Or to? Honestly, I think there may only be two players who are the best in the world, but I deserve it this year,” he said, adding:
“For me, Kylian Mbappé and I are the two best players, and anyone who watches the matches knows that.”
It is worth noting that Mbappé also shared his opinion just a few days ago.
“I have always believed that the Ballon d’Or should reward a player who stands out. Of course, there is also the collective aspect, which is important because football is a team sport. But this is an individual award,” he stated.
He was even more direct when speaking about the current season.
“I think I offered something different this year. That’s why I believe I can win the Ballon d’Or.”
