Gabriel Jesus Compares Yamal to Neymar: “He Is a Genius”

Gabriel Jesus has been left hugely impressed by Lamine Yamal’s talent after spending just one month alongside him at Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward, who left Arsenal this summer to begin a new chapter in La Liga, has been particularly impressed by the qualities and personality of the 19-year-old Spanish star.

Jesus, who is expected to be an important attacking option for Hansi Flick alongside Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, has also made an interesting comparison between the Barcelona star and his fellow Brazilian, Neymar.

“Neymar is the most technically gifted footballer I have ever played with. He could do everything with both feet. For me, he is unmatched, and nobody compares to him,” Jesus said.

However, the Brazilian admits that Yamal possesses some of the characteristics that made Neymar such a special footballer.

“It’s true that Lamine Yamal has some of his qualities, such as his dribbling and personality. He is still very young, but he does things like a player with a great deal of experience, as if he were 30 years old,” he added.

Jesus described Yamal as an extraordinary talent, emphasizing that the Spanish youngster continues to improve from season to season.

“He is a genius who gets better every year and becomes more and more extraordinary,” the Brazilian forward said.

Regarding the race for the Ballon d’Or, Jesus preferred not to give a definitive verdict, arguing that it is unclear whether the award places greater emphasis on individual talent, performances or trophies.

Nevertheless, he has no doubts about the player he has most enjoyed watching on the pitch.

“I don’t like talking about the Ballon d’Or because I don’t know whether they evaluate a player’s talent, performances or titles. But Lamine Yamal is the player I have enjoyed watching the most over the years,” Jesus said.

“This year, he has won almost everything. So, for me, he is the favorite,” the Brazilian concluded
