England secured a commanding 7-0 victory over Croatia in Rijeka, strengthening their position in second place in Group A3 of the Nations League.
Harry Kane was the star of the show for England, scoring twice. The Bayern Munich striker became the first English player in 78 years to score in six consecutive away matches.
England made the perfect start to the game. Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute after receiving a pass from Jude Bellingham and firing the ball into the top corner.
Bellingham then got on the scoresheet himself to make it 2-0, before Anthony Gordon added a third following an assist from Jarrell Quansah. Before half-time, Bukayo Saka extended England’s lead to 4-0.
Kane scored his second goal early in the second half, converting from Elliot Anderson’s assist to make it 5-0.
Saka added England’s sixth after a mistake by the Croatian defense, while Morgan Rogers completed the rout to make it 7-0 after rounding goalkeeper Dominik Livaković and finding the back of the net.
The defeat was the heaviest in Croatia’s history in international football.
With this victory, England temporarily moved level on points with group leaders Spain and now have a three-point advantage over Croatia in the battle for the top two places.
