Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has maintained his stance that he prefers Milan over Inter, but says the Nerazzurri are a team that deserves great respect ahead of their visit to the Bernabéu in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Mbappé has often spoken about his admiration for Inter’s city rivals, Milan.
In an interview in 2024, the France international said that if he were to move to Italy, it would only be to sign for the Rossoneri.
He has also previously revealed that he watches all of Milan’s Serie A matches.
That is a stance Mbappé maintained during an interview with Sky ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Inter on Tuesday night.
“I definitely prefer Milan, but Inter are an opponent who deserve a lot of respect. They are a team with a lot of quality,” Mbappé said.
Mbappé then spoke about his close personal relationship with Inter forward Marcus Thuram, as well as the respect he has for captain Lautaro Martínez.
“When I saw the draw, my only thought was about Marcus Thuram. We have been friends for many years, so I didn’t think much about Inter. It’s a big game for everyone, and there are no friends on the pitch. Lautaro Martínez is a great player, but I hope he doesn’t show that tomorrow. It’s great to play against forwards who can make the difference,” he concluded.
Real Madrid and Inter will face each other tomorrow in the opening round of the league phase of the Champions League, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00 p.m. at the Bernabéu.
