Only 19 and Already Ahead of Messi: Yamal Sets an Incredible Record

Lamine Yamal continues to break records at a remarkably young age, writing another important chapter in Barcelona’s history.

The 19-year-old forward scored twice in Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou, taking his tally of official goals for the Catalan club’s first team to 51.

Yamal began the season with 49 goals for Barcelona, having scored seven in his first season, 18 in the 2024/25 campaign, and 24 during the 2025/26 season. He reached the 50-goal mark in the 21st minute, finding the corner of the net with a precise finish, while he scored his second goal of the match in the 90th minute.

The achievement allowed Yamal to set a new club record, becoming the youngest player in Barcelona’s history to reach 50 goals.

He achieved the milestone at the age of 19, surpassing legendary Barcelona figures such as Josep Escola, who reached the mark at the age of 20, and Lionel Messi, who needed until the age of 21 to score 50 goals.

Since making his first-team debut in April 2023, when he was just 15 years old, Yamal has continued to significantly increase his influence within the Catalan side. His performances have already established him as one of Barcelona’s key attacking players.

In addition to his goalscoring record, Yamal holds another remarkable achievement in the club’s history. He is the youngest player to make 50 official appearances for Barcelona, breaking the previous record held by Bojan Krkic.

In just a few years, Yamal has gone from being a promising talent at the La Masia academy to becoming one of Barcelona’s leading figures, while his statistics continue to rise at an impressive rate.
