Spain left-back Marc Cucurella has kept the promise he made before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup by getting a tattoo of Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente on his arm.
The 28-year-old defender had vowed to tattoo his manager if Spain won the World Cup. La Roja fulfilled that dream on July 19, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final held in New Jersey to lift the prestigious trophy.
Cucurella shared a photo of the tattoo on social media with the caption: “A promise kept.”
The tattoo depicts Luis de la Fuente wearing a suit and proudly holding the FIFA World Cup trophy, Spain’s second world title after their historic triumph at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
The post quickly attracted widespread attention and praise. Spain teammate Mikel Merino described the tattoo as “historic,” while Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz called it “fantastic.”
Cucurella joined Real Madrid from Chelsea shortly before the start of the World Cup. Meanwhile, Luis de la Fuente continues to cement his legacy as one of Spain’s most successful coaches, having previously guided the national team to victory at UEFA Euro 2024 and the UEFA Nations League in 2023.
