Chari Peña is the mother of Fabián Ruiz. She raised her three children on her own, working a variety of jobs to provide them with a better life and a brighter future.
When Fabián joined the Real Betis youth academy, the club offered Chari a job. She became part of the club’s staff, cleaning the dressing rooms and the stadium stands. Every morning, starting at 7:00 a.m., she would be at work while her son trained on the pitch.
In 2018, Real Betis even dedicated one of its season ticket campaigns to her. The campaign showed Chari carrying out her daily work before embracing Fabián inside the stadium, highlighting the sacrifices she had made for her family.
After 15 years of loyal service to the club, Chari retired, no longer needing to work.
Today, her son is a FIFA World Cup champion with Spain. He shared a heartfelt photo with his mother, accompanied by the words:
“Mom, it was all worth it.”
And indeed, it truly was.
Because Chari is a champion too.
