Sacked by Liverpool: Here’s How Much Compensation Arne Slot Is Set to Receive

Arne Slot is reportedly set to receive a substantial compensation package from Liverpool following his dismissal as manager.

Liverpool announced on Saturday afternoon that they had parted ways with Slot after the completion of his second season in charge at Anfield.

The Dutch coach won the Premier League title in his first season and was also named Manager of the Season.

However, Liverpool finished only fifth this season, collecting 24 fewer points than they did in their title-winning campaign.

Although Slot had to deal with a series of injuries to key players, concerns had grown over the team’s style of play, along with repeated criticism from star forward Mohamed Salah, who is set to leave the club this summer by mutual agreement.

Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is expected to take over at Liverpool.

The club’s owners emphasized that it was a “difficult decision” to part ways with Slot, but added that they had concluded that “change is necessary for the club to move forward.”

They also stated that Slot “will always hold a special place in the club’s history as the manager who delivered the club’s 20th league title.”

Slot signed a three-year contract in the summer of 2024, meaning he still had one year remaining on his deal at the time of his dismissal.

According to reports from Dutch outlet FootballTransfers, Liverpool are expected to pay around £9.5 million in compensation for terminating his contract.

This figure is lower than the compensation paid to Ruben Amorim following his departure from Manchester United, with the English club reportedly paying around £16.6 million as part of “exceptional expenses.”

It remains unclear how the compensation will be paid and whether Slot will continue to receive weekly wages or be given a lump-sum settlement.

At the same time, reports suggest that the market for elite managers is limited, with several clubs already moving for other candidates.

Oliver Glasner has been linked with AC Milan, while Massimiliano Allegri is reported to have reached an agreement with Napoli.

Meanwhile, another potential option could be Bayer Leverkusen, who had previously held talks with Iraola.

According to The Athletic, Iraola remains the clear favorite to become Liverpool’s next manager, and there are not expected to be any major obstacles to his appointment, as he has already confirmed his departure from Bournemouth.
