Real Madrid plans to keep their star despite contract expiry

A major uncertainty surrounds the future of right-back Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid, with his contract set to expire in June.

Recently, a clear shift has been նկատiced in the team hierarchy, as the Madrid coach appears to trust Trent Alexander-Arnold more as the first-choice option on the right side of defense, while Carvajal has dropped to a secondary role.

Frequent injury problems have significantly affected this situation, with the coach often emphasizing the Spanish player’s physical condition as the main reason for his limited minutes on the pitch.

However, according to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club’s management is considering the possibility of keeping Carvajal beyond the summer, aiming not to lose an influential figure and leader in the dressing room.

The 34-year-old may be forced to accept a secondary role if he wants to remain part of the squad next season.

Meanwhile, his future with the Spain national team for the 2026 World Cup remains uncertain.
